Start/Sit: Week 3

With Week 2 in the books, itโ€™s time to make those weekly decisions on who to start and sit for Week 3. Anyone can start their studs but where match-ups are won and lost is with those mid-level decisions. Here at Fighting Chance Fantasy Matt Miles (@DirtyAirFC) https://x.com/DirtyAirFC and Leo Grandio (@smooth1074) https://x.com/smooth1074 will be giving you some weekly Start and Sit options to help guide you to a win, and hopefully a championship at seasonโ€™s end. So crack open your favorite adult beverage, sit back, and relax because here we go!

Start

Quarterbacks

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

So far this season Joe Burrow has been mediocre at best for fantasy managers. Between not having all his weapons available due to hold outs or injuries and recovering from a wrist injury himself, Burrow has been slow out of the gate. Look for that to change with his match up against the Commanders who are allowing the fourth most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Oh did I mention that Tee Higgins will be back this week too? - Leo

Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints

Derek Carrโ€™s hot start had me eating crow last week against the Cowboys. The Saints host the reeling Eagles at home in the dome, and the Eagles offense will try to eat the clock as much as possible to keep Carr off the field. However, the efficiency has been great, and the Eagles secondary has not. Start the Carr until the wheels fall off. - Matt

Running Backs

Brian Robinson Jr., Washington Commanders

The Commanders running game has been on point this year. Brian Robinson Jr. has been leading the charge and is averaging 16.3 fantasy points per game so far this season. On top of that Robinson faces the Bengals whoโ€™s allowing running backs to gain over 100 total yards per game. Fire him up on Monday Night Football - Leo

Tony Pollard, Tennessee Titans

Iโ€™m doubling-down on Pollard this week. Heโ€™s 10th in the league with carries, at a 4.4 Yards-per-carry. Pollard also has eight catches for 196 yards in two games. Tyjae Spears looks doubful for Week 3. Itโ€™s wheels-up for Pollard. - Matt

Wide Receivers

Jaxson Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks

Mr. Jaxson Smith-Njigba finally had a breakthrough game. He was targeted an eye popping 16 times and brought in 12 receptions for 117 yards. With a favorable matchup against Miami at home, Smith-Njigba should have an encore performance. - Leo

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Guess who is the number one wide receiver in PPR this season through Week 2? Good-Godwin, itโ€™s Chris Godwin! 15 catchable targets, 15 catches and a perfect 158.3 rating when targeted. Youโ€™re not sitting Godwin anytime soon. - Matt

Tight End

Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

Is it getting to the point that we canโ€™t trust Kyle Pitts in our lineups anymore? It could be, but Iโ€™m firing him up this week against the Kansas City Chiefs who have allowed the most points to opposing tight ends. In the two previous weeks the tight ends have had breakout outings versus the Chiefs. Look for Pitts to make three for three, as the Chiefs are allowing the most fantasy points to tight ends this season. - Leo

Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders

Check-down machine Gardner Minshew host the reeling Carolina Panthers. This yearโ€™s Sam LaPorta is Brock Bowers. To start the season, Bowers is first among tight ends with 15 catches and 156 yards, also first among tight ends. The Bowers Powers will keep rolling this week! - Matt

Defense

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

You want to know the remedy for a defense to get back on track is? Play the Broncos! Unfortunately, Bo Nix has not put things together yet in his rookie campaign. With the Broncos offense sputtering and Nixโ€™s four interceptions, this should be a great opportunity to start up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. - Leo

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have established themselves as the second ranked defense on PFF, including first in special teams heading into Week 3. They face the Tua-less Dolphins at home and are a solid stream for this week. - Matt

Sit

Quarterbacks

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

No Cooper Kupp, no Puka Nacua, and a Swiss cheese offensive line. Couple that with a contest versus the 49ers and thatโ€™s a Matt Stafford sit for me. - Leo

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence is heading to Buffalo who have allowed the second fewest points to quarterbacks this season and Lawrence is averaging only 13.3 fantasy points this season. - Leo

Trevor Lawrence, once touted as the saving grace for the Jaguars is quickly becoming, well, a JAG. Lawrence is riding a seven game losing streak, only has 10 passing TDs in his last seven games and an 81.9 Rating. Woof. The Jaguars head up to Buffalo, who once again are a solid defensive unit. - Matt

Running Backs

Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos

The Broncos offense has only produced one touchdown this season. With Jaleel McLaughlin handling most of the receiving work, Javonte Williams has been spinning his wheels in mud. The veteran running has rushed for only 40 yards this season while averaging two yards per carry. Look elsewhere if you can at running back. - Leo

Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers

Remember how every Bijan Robinson manager wanted Arthur Smith gone in 2023? The Jaylen Warren crowd has now jumped aboard. Couple the lack of usage with the Chargers being the best defense in EPA allowed per rush, and Warren is an easy sit this week. - Matt

Wide Receivers

Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos

Although Courtland Sutton is the WR1 in Denver, he is unfortunately part of an offense that is clearly running in neutral. Sutton has converted 16 targets into five receptions for 64 yards. The Broncos are facing a surprising tough Buccaneers defense that have caused numerous turnovers this season. Until Sutton provides a productive game, he is a sit until further notice. - Leo

Rome Odunze WR Chicago Bears

Caleb Williams has been lackluster, to be nice, to start the season.  The Number one overall draft pick is lost, and his defense is bailing him out.  Rome Odunze is getting open, but just not getting the looks.  It's best to wait it out in Chicago.

Tight End

Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans

Through the first two weeks of the season Dalton Schultz has only been able to muster up five receptions for 37 yards. With the three horses in front of him in the pecking order (Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, and Tank Dell), Schultzโ€™s target share is sure to stay low going forward. Look elsewhere for a tight end to start this week. - Matt

Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills

Despite running 80% of the routes through Week 2, Dalton Kincaid is only getting 15% of targets per route run. Josh Allen might be one of the quartebacks that is a solid candidate for Fantasyโ€™s QB1 with zero fantasy relevant supporting cast. - Matt

Defense

Philadelphia Eagles

After the first two weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles Defense has not been impressive at all. Opponents are averaging over 25 points a game and they face the hottest team in the league the New Orleans Saints who have already scored 91 points this season. - Leo

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys were thought to be a solid unit in the 2024 season, but the Saints exposed glaring issues in their secondary in Week 2. With the Baltimore Ravens coming to town, dual threat Lamar Jackson and a likely resurgence of 11 personnel could spell another rough week for Dem Boyz. - Matt
