2019 Fantasy Baseball Mock Draft

On Tuesday, February 26th we conducted our first fantasy baseball mock draft of the season. With the explosion of talent at Fighting Chance Fantasy we had five of our own staffers joined by seven of not only the best and the brightest in the industry, but great people as well.  As always, we thank them for their time. And we don't just have slouches here when we do mock drafts. We have folks from USA Today, Rotowire, Fantrax, Rotoexperts, Prospect 361 and the Sports Degens. The format of the draft was 5X5 roto, and the positions were 1C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, CI, MI, 4 OF, UTIL, and 9 Ps with a two person bench. Below (in draft order) are our competitors, who they work for, as well as their Twitter handles, please give them all a follow. The picks will be listed as well as a quick analysis by yours truly. Take that for what it is worth haha.

Mike Florio, Fantrax (@MichaelFFlorio)
Patrick Wisniewski, Fighting Chance Fantasy (@polkapat)
Ryan Hallam, Fighting Chance Fantasy (@fightingchance)
Tim Heaney, Rotowire (@Tim_Heaney)
Joe Gallina, RotoExperts (@joegallina)

Brian Dentrek, Sports Degens (@bdentrek)
Steve Gardner, USA Today (@steveagardner)
Steve Rapin, Fighting Chance Fantasy (@fantasygeek37)
Tim McLeod, Prospect 361 (@RunTMC59006473)

Round 1

Round/Pick Team Player
1.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Mike Trout, OF, Los Angeles Angels
1.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Mookie Betts, OF, Boston Red Sox
1.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jose Ramirez, 3B, Cleveland Indians
1.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Christian Yelich, OF, Milwaukee Brewers
1.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Max Scherzer, SP, Washington Nationals
1.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Jacob DeGrom, SP, New York Mets
1.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy J.D. Martinez, OF, Boston Red Sox
1.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Trea Turner, SS, Washington Nationals
1.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Ronald Acuna, OF, Atlanta Braves
1.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Nolan Arenado, 3B, Colorado Rockies
1.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Chris Sale, SP, Boston Red Sox
1.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Gerrit Cole, SP, Houston Astros

When you get a group like this, there aren't really any bad picks in the first round. I was a hair surprised that Christian Yelich went fourth and Jacob DeGrom went sixth, but I can't fault the picks. The steal of the round was Nolan Arenado at 10th overall to Steve Gardner. The guy is an absolute beast and to grab him there was amazing. Tim McLeod certainly also jumped Gerrit Cole's ADP, but I think the kid is a stud and can live up to this billing

Round 2

Round/Pick Team Player
2.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Aaron Nola, SP, Philadelphia Phillies
2.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jose Altuve, 2B, Houston Astros
2.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Francisco Lindor, SS, Cleveland Indians
2.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Alex Bregman, 3B, Houston Astros
2.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Aaron Judge, OF, New York Yankees
2.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Giancarlo Stanton, OF, New York Yankees
2.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, St. Louis Cardinals
2.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Javier Baez, SS, Chicago Cubs
2.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Trevor Story, SS, Colorado Rockies
2.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Juan Soto, OF, Washington Nationals
2.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Freddie Freeman, 1B, Atlanta Braves
2.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Bryce Harper, OF, Philadelphia Phillies

Second round is more fantasy goodness. Surprisingly only one starting pitcher was drafted. And that was done by the guy who finished the first round with a pitcher. Tim McLeod goes back to back SPs with Aaron Nola. I am a huge Nola fan this year and I think this was an excellent pick. The Francisco Lindor question was answered here in the second round when Steve Gardner took him with the third pick of the round. He is slated to miss a little time to start the season but he still should be awesome. The rest of round is pretty standard. I took Juan Soto that might be a bit of a stretch, but he's a guy that I really like and I didn't want to take the chance that Hollywood Florio or Polka Pat was gonna snag him. I expect a huge year out of Soto.

Round 3

Round/Pick Team Player
3.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Corey Kluber, SP, Cleveland Indians
3.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Manny Machado, 3B, San Diego Padres
3.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Blake Snell, SP, Tampa Bay Rays
3.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Kris Bryant, 3B, Chicago Cubs
3.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Charlie Blackmon, OF, Colorado Rockies
3.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Anthony Rendon, 3B, Washington Nationals
3.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Justin Verlander, SP, Houston Astros
3.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Whit Merrified, 2B, Kansas City Royals
3.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Andrew Benintendi, OF, Boston Red Sox
3.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Anthony Rizzo, 1B, Chicago Cubs
3.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Trevor Bauer, SP, Cleveland Indians
3.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Starling Marte, OF, Pittsburgh Pirates

Patrick Wisniewski gets an amazing value here with Manny Machado in the third, 26th overall. San Diego isn't a hitters paradise, but Machado should still rake there. My favorite pick is Kris Bryant to Tim Heaney. Bryant was a first round pick last year who badly disappointed due to a shoulder injury. He is fully healed and I expect Krissie to have a huge 2019. Four pitchers went this round and all were solid picks. Mike Florio made Corey Kluber the first pick of the round. I took AL Cy Young winner Blake Snell, Kari Thomas selected Justin Verlander, and Steve Rapin took Trevor Bauer. Bauer is my least favorite of the four and I like his rotation mate Carlos Carrasco more, but Bauer had a fantastic 2018 and supposedly worked on another pitch this offseason.

Round 4

Round/Pick Team Player
4.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Walker Buehler, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers
4.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Cody Bellinger, 1B, Los Angeles Dodgers
4.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Carlos Carrasco, SP, Cleveland Indians
4.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Rhys Hoskins, 1B, Philadelphia Phillies
4.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire George Springer, OF, Houston Astros
4.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Carlos Correa, SS, Houston Astros
4.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Luis Severino, SP, New York Yankees
4.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Khris Davis, DH, Oakland Athletics
4.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Noah Syndergaard, SP, New York Mets
4.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Ozzie Albies, 2B, Atlanta Braves
4.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Eugenio Suarez, 3B, Cincinnati Reds
4.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Tommy Pham, OF, Tampa Bay Rays

This draft was before the injury news to Luis Severino, so this is a bad break for Joel Henard's team, although this is a mock, so no harm done. Steve Rapin took a guy I really like in Cody Bellinger and Steve Gardner followed that with Carlos Carrasco who I also think is going to have a great year. Back to back underrated Astro players in George Springer and Carlos Correa to John Halpin and Kari Thomas. Both are coming off of disappointing seasons, but both are awesome players and should bounce back. Mike Florio finished the round with Tommy Pham who has really come into his own the past couple years.

Round 5

Round/Pick Team Player
5.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Adalberto Mondesi, SS, Kansas City Royals
5.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Gleyber Torres, SS, New York Yankees
5.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jean Segura, SS, Philadelphia Phillies
5.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Vlad Guerrero Jr, 3B, Toronto Blue Jays
5.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts James Paxton, SP, New York Yankees
5.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Xander Bogaerts, SS, Boston Red Sox
5.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Lorenzo Cain, OF, Milwaukee Brewers
5.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Edwin Diaz, RP, New York Mets
5.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Stephen Strasburg, SP, Washington Nationals
5.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Patrick Corbin, SP, Washington Nationals
5.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Nelson Cruz, DH, Minnesota Twins
5.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Michael Conforto, OF, New York Mets

Mike Florio started Round 5 with Adalberto Mondesi who had an incredible half a season for the Royals and even though shortstop is a strong position, I still love this pick. Speaking of shortstops, three more went after that with Gleyber Torres, Jean Segura and Xander Bogaerts. All three are great choices to be your starting shortstop. Tim Heaney answered the question of when Vlad Guerrero Jr would be picked when he went the fourth pick in the fifth round. I'm curious if he would go quite that early if we were playing this league out. John Halpin takes the first closer with Edwin Diaz here in the fifth. I think that is a pretty good indication of when closers start to go, generally the fifth or sixth round.

Round 6

Round/Pick Team Player
6.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 J.T. Realmuto, C, Philadelphia Phillies
6.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Yasiel Puig, OF, Cincinnati Reds
6.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Jameson Taillon, SP, PIttsburgh Pirates
6.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Scooter Gennett, 2B, Cincinnati Reds
6.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Gary Sanchez, C, New York Yankees
6.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jose Berrios, SP, Minnesota Twins
6.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Mike Clevinger, SP, Cleveland Indians
6.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Matt Carpenter, 3B, St. Louis Cardinals
6.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Joey Votto, 1B, Cincinnati Reds
6.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Mitch Haniger, OF, Seattle Mariners
6.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Marcell Ozuna, OF, St. Louis Cardinals
6.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Zack Greinke, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks

Four more pitchers went in the sixth with three guys I really like. Jameson Taillon, Jose Berrios, and Mike Clevinger. The difference to me in these guys is the strikeout potential. Clevinger struck out 200 batters last season, Berrios can finish in the 180-190 range, and while Taillon might get the fewest strikeouts, he could be the most talented pitcher of the bunch. Tim McLeod started this round with the first catcher off the board with new Phillies star JT Realmuto. John Halpin was close behind with the second catcher in Gary Sanchez. I think it is a tossup between those two as who should be the first catcher off the board. I'm interested to see if two outfielders picked this round can repeat last year. Yasiel Puig and my own pick, Mitch Haniger. This is the level of outfielder that comes after the ones you feel comfortable with and then the question marks start. Both guys should be good again in 2019, but there is a decent amount of risk picking them in Round 6.

Round 7

Round/Pick Team Player
7.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Zack Wheeler, SP, New York Mets
7.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Clayton Kershaw, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers
7.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Matt Olsen, 1B, Oakland Athletics
7.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Jack Flaherty, SP, St. Louis Cardinals
7.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Mike Foltynewicz, SP, Atlanta Braves
7.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Justin Upton, OF, Los Angeles Angels
7.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Nick Castellanos, OF, Detroit Tigers
7.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Blake Treinen, RP, Oakland Athletics
7.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Matt Chapman, 3B, Oakland Athletics
7.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Jonathan Villar, 2B, Baltimore Orioles
7.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jose Peraza, SS, Cincinnati Reds
7.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Victor Robles, OF, Washington Nationals

I feel like I have been talking about Mike Florio's draft a lot, but he had another great pick with Zack Wheeler. He finally lived up to the hype last year, and I really think that Wheeler will follow it up with another dynamite season. Clayton Kershaw. In Round 7. I know the injury news isn't great, but I had watched him fall far enough and was planning on taking him with my next pick. Patrick Wisniewski beat me to it and I tihnk this is a bit of an exaggerated fall for Kershaw. Dynamite Young Jack Flaherty also went this round to Tim Heaney which is a great selection. Blake Treinen goes as the second reliever off the board to John Halpin as I think you'll see a run now. Steve Rapin goes with Jose Peraza as he's picking up the scraps at the shortstop position as Peraza is one of the last few you can feel good about starting and Tim McLeod finished it up with big time prospect Victor Robles. Well done Tim!

Round 8

Round/Pick Team Player
8.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Kenley Jansen, RP, Los Angeles Dodgers
8.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Roberto Osuna, RP, Houston Astros
8.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today A.J. Pollock, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers
8.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Daniel Murphy, 2B, Colorado Rockies
8.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire German Marquez, SP, Colorado Rockies
8.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jose Abreu, 1B, Chicago White Sox
8.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Eddie Rosario, OF, Minnesota Twins
8.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Corey Seager, SS, Los Angeles Dodgers
8.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Aroldis Chapman, RP, New York Yankees
8.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Miles Mikolas, SP, St. Louis Cardinals
8.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Madison Bumgarner, SP, San Francisco Giants
8.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Brad Hand, RP, Cleveland Indians

And here come the closers! Kenley Jansen, Roberto Osuna, Aroldis Chapman and Brad Hand all went in the eighth round. I'm curious if the lack of a home is the reason why Craig Kimbrel hasn't gone yet. But all four of those guys are quality top notch closers. Three starters who also have garnered a lot of preseason talk also went with German Marquez, Miles Mikolas and Madison Bumgarner. Lots of folks are worried that Bumgarner hasn't quite looked the same the past couple years. Will he bounceback? I still think he could. Marquez and Mikolas both have doubts if they can repeat their breakout years in 2018. I think both will be good this season and are solid picks in this round. I also like the pick of Eddie Rosario to Joel Henard. He isn't a sexy name, but the guy does produce in an underrated fashion.

Round 9

Round/Pick Team Player
9.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Justin Turner, 3B, Los Angeles Dodgers
9.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy David Price, SP, Boston Red Sox
9.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Luis Castillo, SP, Cincinnati Reds
9.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Charlie Morton, SP, Tampa Bay Rays
9.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Felipe Vazquez, RP, Pittsburgh Pirates
9.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Jurickson Profar, 2B, Arizona Diamondbacks
9.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Eloy Jimenez, OF, Chicago White Sox
9.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Masahiro Tanaka, SP, New York Yankees
9.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Robbie Ray, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks
9.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Craig Kimbrel, RP, Free Agent
9.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Joey Gallo, OF, Texas Rangers
9.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Aaron Hicks, OF, New York Yankees

The aforementioned Kimbrel and Felipe Vazquez both found homes in Round 9, and both are great picks here. Five pitchers went this round and again there is still quality here in David Price, Luis Castillo, Charlie Morton, Masahiro Tanaka, and Robbie Ray. Ray brings value in the strikeout dept, and if he can be the guy he was in the second half of last season, then Brian Dentrek got a major steal. Tanaka is a steady guy, look at the back of his baseball card, that's what you can expect. Morton is likely due for a bit of a regression this season, but even with that he is in for a solid 2019. Castillo is a guy that I have liked for a couple of years, and if the Reds can improve the rest of their team, Castillo can win 15+ gamees. Price is another solid performer. Jurickson Profar is also a good choice as he is eligible at many positions and can hit 20 homers.

Round 10

Round/Pick Team Player
10.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Jose Leclerc, RP, Texas Rangers
10.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Travis Shaw, 3B, Milwaukee Brewers
10.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Mallex Smith, OF, Seattle Mariners
10.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Kirby Yates, RP, San Diego Padres
10.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Jesus Aguilar, 1B, Milwaukee Brewers
10.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Josh Donaldson, 3B, Atlanta Braves
10.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Michael Brantley, OF, Houston Astros
10.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Miguel Andujar, 3B, New York Yankees
10.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Wil Myers, OF, San Diego Padres
10.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy David Dahl, OF, Colorado Rockies
10.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Josh Hader, RP, Milwaukee Brewers
10.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Max Muncy, 1B, Los Angeles Dodgers

I like the Kirby Yates pick here as the Padres should be improving and the guy throws 356 miles per hour. Big fan of the picks of Josh Donaldson and Miguel Andujar here. Sometimes I think people forget how good of a bat Andujar is because his defense is "less than ideal". Well the Yankees didn't try to replace him this offseason so there's no reason to believe he won't hit 22-27 home runs again. There are a few injury concerns here with Michael Brantley, David Dahl, and Wil Myers, but if these guys are able to play 150 games, they should greatly outperform their draft spots. Finally,  Max Muncy and all of his power go to Michael Florio which should be great value for a starting first baseman this late.

Round 11

Round/Pick Team Player
11.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Eduardo Rodriguez, SP, Boston Red Sox
11.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Yoan Moncada, 2B, Chicago White Sox
11.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Sean Doolittle, RP, Washington Nationals
11.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Brian Dozier, 2B, Washington Nationals
11.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Salvador Perez, C, Kansas City Royals
11.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Raisel Iglesias, RP, Cincinnati Reds
11.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Robinson Cano, 2B, New York Mets
11.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Chris Archer, SP, PIttsburgh Pirates
11.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Mike Moustakas, 3B, Milwaukee Brewers
11.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Edwin Encarnacion, 1B, Seattle Mariners
11.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Wade Davis, RP, Colorado Rockies
11.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Amed Rosario, SS, New York Mets

This draft was before the season ending news of the Sal Perez pick so we won't make fun of Joe Gallina too much. My favorite picks of the round were Brian Dozier, Raisel Iglesias, Robinson Cano, and Edwin Encarnacion who I think are all guys who are being undervalued. I really do like the pick of Amed Rosario here even though he does come with a little bit of risk.

Round 12

Round/Pick Team Player
12.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Rafael Devers, 3B, Boston Red Sox
12.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Kyle Freeland, SP, Colorado Rockies
12.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today David Peralta, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks
12.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Yusel Kikucki, SP, Seattle Mariners
12.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Nate Eovaldi, SP, Boston Red Sox
12.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Alex Reyes, RP, St. Louis Cardinals
12.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Tim Anderson, SS, Chicago White Sox
12.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Ian Desmond, OF, Colorado Rockies
12.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Byron Buxton, OF, Minnesota Twins
12.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Sean Newcomb, SP, Atlanta Braves
12.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Willson Contreras, C, Chicago Cubs
12.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Shane Bieber, SP, Cleveland Indians

I love the first half of Round 12. Shane Bieber is a rising young talent in the league. Willson Contreras is one of the better offensive catchers in baseball. I picked Sean Newcomb who had a very strong first year and I think can repeat. Byron Buxton is a total wildcard, but if he pans out Tim Heaney will look like a genius. Ian Desmond is a 20/10 guy basically every year and plays first base and outfield. Tim Anderson finally showed signs of life last season and I think he can take another step forward in 2019. Finally, although his role isn't defined and he is injury prone, Alex Reyes could be a megastar if he can just stay on the mound.

Round 13

Round/Pick Team Player
13.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Yasmani Grandal, C, Milwaukee Brewers
13.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Nomar Mazara, OF, Texas Rangers
13.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Ken Giles, RP, Toronto Blue Jays
13.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Rougned Odor, 2B, Texas Rangers
13.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts J.A, Happ, SP, New York Yankees
13.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Ender Inciarte, OF, Atlanta Braves
13.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Andrew McCutchen, OF, Philadelphia Phillies
13.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Yu Darvish, SP, Chicago Cubs
13.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Dee Gordon, 2B, Seattle Mariners
13.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Wilson Ramos, C, New York Mets
13.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Stephen Piscotty, OF, Oakland Athletics
13.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Garrett Hampson, 2B, Colorado Rockies

The 13th round was kind of boring to be honest. I'm not saying that they are bad picks, just nothing that really did it for me. I dook my second closer in Ken Giles who I think will do a fine job in Toronto. If I had to pick my favorite I would say it is Rougned Odor. The powerful second baseman of the Rangers is a great value in the 13th round even if he doesn't hit for the greatest average. He is a guy that I am definitely targeting this year. As long as Wilson Ramos stays healthy, that is a great pick for Steve Gardner. I also like the pick of Garrett Hampson by Tim McLeod. If he can get 450-500 at-bats, he could have a great year.

Round 14

Round/Pick Team Player
14.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Jose Alvarado, RP, Tampa Bay Rays
14.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Nick Pivetta, SP, Philadelphia Phillies
14.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Kyle Hendricks, SP, Chicago Cubs
14.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Cole Hamels, SP, Chicago Cubs
14.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Cesar Hernandez, 2B, Philadelphia Phillies
14.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Miguel Cabrera, 1B, Detroit Tigers
14.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Josh Bell, 1B, Pittsburgh Pirates
14.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Billy Hamilton, OF, Kansas City Royals
14.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Andrew Heaney, SP, Los Angeles Angels
14.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Carlos Santana, 1B, Cleveland Indians
14.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Shohei Ohtani, SP/DH, Los Angeles Angels
14.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Austin Meadows, OF, Tampa Bay Rays

I liked Tim McLeod's pick of Jose Alvarado to open the 14th round. Great strikeout potential, and Tampa won't be as bad as you think. Nick Pivetta has a lot of potential, but he is far from a sure thing. Josh Bell could be a nice pick for Joel Henard. His power numbers took a huge hit last season, but if he can rebound Joel got a great value. I took Carlos Santana who will guarantee you 20 home runs, but the batting average is a challenge. Florio finished the round with Austin Meadows who was one of the top prospect of the Pirates and now gets his chance to play every day for the Rays. He has a nice high ceiling.

Round 15

Round/Pick Team Player
15.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Cody Allen, RP, Los Angeles Angels
15.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Alex Colome, RP, Chicago White Sox
15.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Brandon Nimmo, OF, New York Mets
15.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Corey Knebel, RP, Milwaukee Brewers
15.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Jon Lester, SP, Chicago Cubs
15.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Tyler Glasnow, SP, Tampa Bay Rays
15.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Kevin Gausman, SP, Baltimore Orioles
15.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Eduardo Escobar, 3B, Arizona Diamondbacks
15.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Josh James, SP, Houston Astros
15.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Rich Hill, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers
15.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Collin McHugh, SP, Houston Astros
15.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Alex Wood, SP, Cincinnati Reds

Three more closers went in the front half of the round with Cody Allen, Alex Colome and Corey Knebel. I think Knebel is the best of the bunch with huge strikeout potential on a good team. I took Brandon Nimmo, who I am hoping will continue what he did last season. Tyler Glasnow is another player who came from the Pirates to the Rays. He has huge strikeout potential, but is still raw and walks a lot of batters. He is a high risk/high reward player. Josh James is another exciting young pitcher with a lot of upside. He is dinged up right now, but he has a chance to still have a great year.

Round 16

Round/Pick Team Player
16.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Eric Hosmer, 1B, San Diego Padres
16.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Yadier Molina, C, St. Louis Cardinals
16.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today David Robertson, RP, Philadelphia Phillies
16.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Ryan Braun, OF, Milwaukee Brewers
16.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Harrison Bader, OF, St. Louis Cardinals
16.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Fernando Tatis Jr, SS, San Diego Padres
16.7 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Jose Quintana, SP, Chicago Cubs
16.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Domingo Santana, OF, Seattle Mariners
16.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Buster Posey, C, San Francisco Giants
16.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Dallas Keuchel, SP, Free Agent
16.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Carlos Rodon, SP, Chicago White Sox
16.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Luke Voit, 1B, New York Yankees

Eric Hosmer is a solid pick in the 16th round. He isn't going to hit 30 home runs, but he will hit for a solid batting average and give you 20 dingers with a few steals. Fernando Tatis is one of the best young prospects in baseball. He won't start the year with the Padres, but he will get there at some point. I like the Harrison Bader pick as he could give you a 15/15 season with the potential for more. Domingo Santana was an awesome pick for Joe Gallina. He had a huge season two years ago for the Brewers before losing playing time last year. He is in Seattle now where he will play every day. I took Dallas Keuchel, who still doesn't have a team, but I couldn't let him sit there anymore. Wherever he goes, he still should have a year worthy of a 16th round pick.

Round 17

Round/Pick Team Player
17.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Jon Gray, SP, Colorado Rockies
17.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Carlos Martinez, SP, St. Louis Cardinals
17.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Joey Lucchesi, SP, San Diego Padres
17.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Joe Musgrove, SP, Pittsburgh Pirates
17.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Paul DeJong, SS, St. Louis Cardinals
17.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Reynaldo Lopez, SP, Chicago White Sox
17.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jake Arrieta, SP, Philadelphia Phillies
17.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Jimmy Nelson, SP, Milwaukee Brewers
17.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Rick Porcello, SP, Boston Red Sox
17.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Ramon Laureano, OF, Oakland Athletics
17.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Archie Bradley, RP, Arizona Diamondbacks
17.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Jonathan Schoop, 2B, Minnesota Twins

Pitching ruled Round 17, but I did want to highlight Joe Gallina's pick of Paul DeJong. If he can stay healthy, DeJong could be a top ten shortstop. Carlos Martinez finally went. The Cards ace is injured now, but if he's able to get on the mound before too long, this could be an amazing pick. I took Joey Lucchesi who showed some great potential and strikeout ability and someone that I will target a lot this year. Reynaldo Lopez is another young pitcher with a lot of potential. Jake Arrieta is a wily veteran and is worthy of a 17th round pick but won't light the world on fire. If Jimmy Nelson is able to repeat his 2018 season, John Halpin got a major steal.

Round 18

Round/Pick Team Player
18.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Hyun-Jin Ryu, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers
18.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jake Bauers, 1B, Cleveland Indians
18.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Ketel Marte, 2B/OF, Arizona Diamondbacks
18.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Greg Holland, RP, Arizona Diamondbacks
18.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Jackie Bradley, OF, Boston Red Sox
18.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy A.J. Minter, RP, Atlanta Braves
18.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Trevor May, RP, Minnesota Twins
18.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Jesus Luzardo, SP, Oakland Athletics
18.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Pedro Strop, RP, Chicago Cubs
18.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Miguel Sano, 3B, Minnesota Twins
18.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Kyle Schwarber, OF, Chicago Cubs
18.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Zack Godley, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks

The 18th round was highlighted by a few guys that I like. I like Jake Bauers who might not hit for a great batting average but is going to give you a good number of home runs. I do expect him to hit much better than the Mendoza Line threatening that he did last year. I like AJ Minter to take the closer's job from Arodys Vizcaino at some point this year. Jesus Luzardo is one of the top young prospects in baseball and Joe Gallina likely got the deal of the draft. I took Miguel Sano who, if he can stay healthy, can be a 25+ home run guy in 2019.

Round 19

Round/Pick Team Player
19.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Tyler White, 1B, Houston Astros
19.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Willy Adames, SS, Tampa Bay Rays
19.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Will Smith, RP, San Francisco Giants
19.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Dylan Bundy, SP, Baltimore Orioles
19.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Hunter Renfroe, OF, San Diego Padres
19.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Andrelton Simmons, SS, Los Angeles Angels
19.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Ross Stripling, SP, Los Angeles Dodger
19.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Yulieski Gurriel, 1B, Houston Astros
19.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Franmil Reyes, OF, San Diego Padres
19.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Kenta Maeda, Los Angeles Dodgers
19.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Manuel Margot, OF, San Diego Padres
19.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Ryan Zimmerman, 1B, Washington Nationals

Round 19 was highlighted by very talented Willy Adames who could be a 15/15 shortstop at a very young age and still should be getting better. I took Will Smith who will be the Giants closer. Not the best job, but hell it is Round 19. Potentially the entire Padres starting outfield went in this round. Hunter Renfroe will never win you a batting title, but he has hit 26 homers in each of the last two years and there's value in that this late. Franmil Reyes is trying to join the Padres starting outfield and he has a lot of power potential and is a very intriguing late round sleeper. Manuel Margot is the centerfielder who give you a nice speed/power mix, although he doesn't excel greatly with either.

Round 20

Round/Pick Team Player
20.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Justin Smoak, 1B, Toronto Blue Jays
20.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Michael Fulmer, SP, Detroit Tigers
20.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Adam Eaton, OF, Washington Nationals
20.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Max Kepler, OF, Minnesota Twins
20.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Justin Bour, 1B, Los Angeles Angels
20.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jhoulys Chacin, SP, Milwaukee Brewers
20.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Omar Narvaez, C, Seattle Mariners
20.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Marco Gonzales, SP, Seattle Mariners
20.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Steven Matz, SP, New York Mets
20.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jorge Alfaro, C. MIami Marlins
20.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Dellin Betances, RP, New York Yankees
20.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Elvis Andrus, SS, Texas Rangers

Round 20 is a little more throwing darts at the wall and hoping. I took Jorge Alfaro who I'm hoping gives the Marlins some offense after coming over in the Realmuto trade. Elvis Andrus has big steal potential but flopped majorly last year. Steven Matz has ace-like stuff, but can't stay on the mound or be consistent. Justin Bour is a nice power hitter but could be in a platoon. Max Kepler is a solid source of late round power the past few years. A lot of it isn't pretty, but there are still some solid values going around.

Round 21

Round/Pick Team Player
21.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Jeff McNeil, 2B, New York Mets
21.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Gregory Polanco, OF, Pittsburgh Pirates
21.3 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Marcus Stroman, SP, Toronto Blue Jays
21.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Peter Alonso, 1B, New York Mets
21.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Drew Pomeranz, SP, San Francisco Giants
21.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Joey Wendle, 2B, Tampa Bay Rays
21.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Brandon Morrow, RP, Chicago Cubs
21.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Aroyds Vizcaino, RP, Atlanta Braves
21.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Freddy Peralta, SP, Milwaukee Brewers
21.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Forrest Whitley, SP, Houston Astros
21.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Marwin Gonzalez, Anywhere, Minnesota Twins
21.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Andrew Miller, RP, St. Louis Cardinals

Round 21 has some more excitement in it for me. Gregory Polanco has a world of talent but has a hard time staying healthy but is a great pick here. Peter Alonso is one of the best young power hitters in baseball and will be the Mets starting first baseman in a few weeks if not right from Opening Day. Arodys Vizcaino is at least a closer to start the year for the Braves who should challenge for the division. Forrest Whitley is one of the best young pitching prospects in baseball. Marwin Gonzalez is basically eligible everywhere and could hit 20 homers. And regardless of his role in the Cardinals bullpen, Andrew Miller has great value in fantasy.

Round 22

Round/Pick Team Player
22.1 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Cedric Mullins, OF, Baltimore Orioles
22.2 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Jorge Polanco, SS, Minnesota Twins
22.3 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Seranthony Dominguez, RP, Philadelphia Phillies
22.4 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens C.J. Cron, 1B, Minnesota Twins
22.5 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Derek Holland, SP, San Francisco Giants
22.6 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Dansby Swanson, SS, Atlanta Braves
22.7 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Mychal Givens, RP, Baltimore Orioles
22.8 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Trey Mancini, OF, Baltimore Orioles
22.9 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Vincent Velasquez, SP, Philadelphia Phillies
22.10 Ryan Hallam @fightingchance, Fighting Chance Fantasy Wilmer Flores, 2B, Arizona Diamondbacks
22.11 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Maikel Franco, 3B, Philadelphia Phillies
22.12 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Tyler Skaggs, SP, Los Angeles Angels

The final two rounds still bring value to the table. Tyler Skaggs is a great late round sleeper with some nice strikeout ability. I took Wilmer Flores who I am telling you to watch since he should get everyday playing time for the Diamondbacks. The guy could hit 20 homers and is eligible all over. Trey Mancini is a 25 homer guy waiting to happen. Jordan Hicks should be the Cardinals closer, but even if he isn't he should get a ton of strikeouts. Derek Holland had a great 2018 and is looking to build on it. Danny Jansen is a young catcher with a little pop in his bat. Nick Senzel could become a household name this year if the Reds give him a chance to play every day and he stays healthy. he has an impressive bat. Jorge Polanco has great power for a shortstop available this late. Shane Greene should do a great job as the Tigers closer until they trade him away. Cedric Mullins has some great stolen base potential for the Orioles on a team that should let players steal when they want. Finally, Touki Toussaint had a great Minor League career, and although he is having a rough spring is a good guy to take a shot at towards the end of your draft.

Round 23

Round/Pick Team Player
23.1 Michael Florio @MichaelFFlorio, Fantrax Trevor Richards, SP, San Diego Padres
23.2 Patrick Wisniewski @polkapat, Fighting Chance Fantasy Kelvin Herrera, RP, Chicago White Sox

23.4 Tim Heaney @tim_heaney, Rotowire Kevin Kiermaier, OF, Tampa Bay Rays
23.5 Joe Gallina @joegallina, RotoExperts Asdrubal Cabrera, 3B, Texas Rangers
23.6 Joel Henard @joelhenard, Fantasy Insiders Show Jordan Hicks, RP, St. Louis Cardinals
23.7 Kari Thomas @12ozcurlsports, Fighting Chance Fantasy Yan Gomes, C, Washington Nationals
23.8 John Halpin @jhalpin37, Rotowire Jed Lowrie, 2B, Oakland Athletics
23.9 Brian Dentrek @bdentrek, The Sports Degens Danny Jansen, C, Toronto Blue Jays
23.10 Steve Gardner @steveagardner, USA Today Nick Senzel, 3B, Cincinnati Reds
23.11 Steve Rapin @fantasygeek37, Fighting Chance Fantasy Shane Greene, RP, Detroit Tigers
23.12 Tim McLeod @RunTMC59006473, Prospect 361 Touki Toussaint, SP, Atlanta Braves
