The 2023 Fantasy Football Impact
For the second straight year, Kansas City selected a wide receiver in the second round of the NFL draft and this year’s choice was Rashee Rice out of SMU. As we’ve learned over the years, whoever ends up in the Chiefs high powered offense sees a serious spike in their average draft position (ADP). Maybe people have learned their lesson from drafting a skill player just because the Chiefs drafted him, and we’ll see a more appropriate value on Rice… maybe. The more likely outcome is Rashee Rice continues to rise in rookie draft ADP as we move closer to the season, and we completely lose the value that is there at the moment.
Rice is a solid prospect with nice size and decent speed. There is definitely a path to early touches if Andy Reid is willing to give him the chance. We saw Reid trust Skyy Moore more as the season progressed, so it’s not out of the question. If you are drafting soon, now is a good time to buy in on Rice before that spike, or if you are drafting later on then you can enjoy the values of other prospects.
