The 2023 Fantasy Football Impact:
While Philadelphia and their General Manager Howie Roseman were the talks of draft weekend, it wasn't for their moves to add rookies to their already impressive offense. The Birds did that by trading a 2025 fourth-round pick to acquire Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (and swapped seventh-rounders in 2023). On the final year of his rookie deal, Swift will join another new Eagle, Rashaad Penny in a backfield that combined will make under $3 million dollars next season. The rich get richer while paying even less. Kind of like America.
Philly did add third-round guard Tyler Steen to the mix from Alabama. He figures to battle Cam Jurgens for the starting right guard position vacated by Isaac Seumalo. This is how the Eagles stay dominant in the trenches. Year after year, they spend top three-round draft capital on linemen, even when they seemingly don't have a need.
If the Eagles' defense can somehow improve from their breakneck sack pace of a year ago these rookies should help. The move to add seemingly anyone who's ever lined up for the Georgia Bulldogs appears to be a good idea. Philly should be back in the conversation for the Super Bowl in 2023.
