2023 NFL Draft Recap: Pittsburgh Steelers

The 2023 NFL Draft has concluded after months of scrutiny about these prospects, potential landing spots, team and scheme fits, and so on. Now we get to start the entire process all over again now that we have team landing spots for these college prospects with their new NFL teams.

Today, we tackle the Pittsburgh Steelers and how they fared in the 2023 NFL Draft.

  • Round 2, Pick 49 - Keannu Benton, IDL, Wisconsin
  • Round 3, Pick 93 - Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
  • Round 4, Pick 132 - Nick Herbig, OLB, Wisconsin
  • Round 7, Pick 241 - Corey Trice, Jr., CB, Purdue
  • Round 7, Pick 251 - Spencer Anderson, OG, Maryland

The 2023 Fantasy Football Impact:

At first glance, no big dynasty names went to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the devil is in the details with these picks. General Manager Omar Kahn is looking to build momentum with what ended up being a 9-8 Steelers team that did surprise in a tough AFC North division in 2022. Kahn traded up in the first round and immediately invested in improving the offensive line for 2021's first-round pick Kenny Pickett. Kahn started the second round on Day 2 by drafting 6-foot-7, 269 lb. Darnell Washington to help punch holes for Najee Harris and provide an athletic safety valve for Pickett.

The specific pivot to the offensive line and defensive pieces is a clear message that Pickett, Harris, Diontae Johnson, George Pickens and Allen Robinson II are the main focal points for fantasy purposes.  If Pickett shows a solid second-year bump with these offensive line improvements, there is a lot of fantasy value on this 2023 Steelers roster.
