2023 NFL Draft Recap: Washington Commanders

The 2023 NFL Draft has concluded after months of scrutiny about these prospects, potential landing spots, team and scheme fits, and so on. Now we get to start the entire process all over again now that we have team landing spots for these college prospects with their new NFL teams.

Today, we tackle the Washington Commanders and how they fared in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Washington's 2023 NFL Draft Selections

  • Round 2, Pick 47 - Jartavius Martin, CB, Illinois
  • Round 3, Pick 97 - Ricky Stromberg, C, Arkansas
  • Round 4, Pick 118 - Braeden Daniels, T, Utah
  • Round 5, Pick 137 - K.J. Henry, EDGE, Clemson
  • Round 6, Pick 193 - Chris Rodriguez Jr., RB, Kentucky
  • Round 7, Pick 233 - Andre Jones, LB, Louisiana

The 2023 Fantasy Football Impact:

The Commanders enter 2023 with a young nucleus on offense but still a lot of question marks at the most important position.  Second-year man Sam Howell could be the clubhouse leader but will have to hold off veteran Jacoby Brissett for the starting quarterback job. Whoever lands the job will hopefully get some help up front from two of the offensive lineman that Washington selected in the third and fourth rounds.

I wouldn't expect much from sixth-rounder Chris Rodriguez, as I never give much credence to players selected that late. It's an uphill battle for the rookie out of Kentucky, but if he shows well in training camp he could slot in behind Brian Robinson and the always-uninspiring Antonio Gibson for touches.
