Daytona 500 Nascar Cup Series Betting and Fantasy Outlook

Hello, race fans!  Welcome back to the NASCAR Cup Season! It's time for the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway in Florida. The start time has been moved to 4 pm Monday, February 19th. The duels didn't disappoint. And excitement will build as many good cars start at the rear. Start your engines!

I'll be playing in Draft Kings this week. If you're new to the NASCAR DFS world, here's a quick summary of how scoring is done:

Look for a mix of drivers that fit the following:

Starting up front can potentially lead to lots of laps.

Good drivers starting farther back can pass many cars and finish with a strong differential.

Drivers starting up front I like:
Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin

Drivers with great differential potential and could lead laps:
Kyle Busch, Ryan Blaney

Drivers with great differential points and possible top finishes:
Austin Dillon, Austin Cindric

Most likely to be chalk plays:
Ryan Blaney, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr

It will be very tough to beat the chalk of Ryan Blaney and Ricky Stenhouse this week, but the notable starting position of Austin Dillon and AJ Allmandinger can help go against the grain and save some salary, as both drivers are previous winners here at Daytona.

Race Winner  Joey Logano
Best Bet for a solid finish Bubba Wallace, William Byron
Dark Horse Differentiators AJ Allmendinger, Austin Cindric

NASCAR Fantasy Live:

The revamped Fantasy Live game run by is a free game to win prizes and test your skills at picking drivers with limited starts. Each driver has 10 allocations, a garage slot you can swap with mid-race, and the ability to choose drivers in head-to-head match-ups for bonus points.

To start the season, I like a mix of drivers who I can save some starts paired with plate track studs. Here's who I have in my NASCAR Fantasy Live Pool this week:

One-and-done Games:

Earlier this month, I wrote about different strategies in One-and-done leagues.  This season, I'll lay out some names that fit each strategy throughout the season.  The order I show them is the order I would play them this week.

"Parachute Theory" or "Studs early and often:" Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott

"Steady Hand Theory" Mix of Studs and Mid-pack drivers: Bubba Wallace, Austin Dillon, Chris Buescher

"Late Bloomer Strategy" No Studs Early and often: Austin Cindric, David Ragan, Jimmie Johnson
