Drake's Takes

This week marked the 40th anniversary of the tragic passing of John Lennon.  No musical figure mattered more to the genre and pop culture than Lennon.  Even if you aren’t a Beatles fan you have to acknowledge the influence the group had on American culture.  My wife is a massive Beatles fan.  Every table at our wedding was named after a Beatles song.  I know greatness when I hear it.  John was an icon.  Gone way too soon.  Enjoy one of my favorite Lennon tracks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLy2SaSQAtA

Army-Navy held their first game at Michie Stadium since 1943.  I was 10-years-old when I first stepped foot in Michie.  My late grandfather brought me there in 1990 to watch Syracuse defeat the Black Knights of the Hudson.  I was immediately blown away by the beauty of the campus.  I returned as a college junior running a track meet at the campus.  The majesty was not lost on me.  I hope every football fan… every American can visit the West Point campus and see where the cadets spend their college years.

Week 14 means we are in the fantasy football playoffs.  To me, that is a time to punish your opponent with your dominant lineup.  Well, 2020 doesn’t give a damn about your lineup.  DeAndre Washington, Mike Davis, Ty Johnson, and JD McKissic would like a word about that.  Your 1st round selection of CMC or Barkley or Zeke seems like 50 years ago.  Those guys carry as much weight as Mike Alstott these days.  You need to play someone, anyone with a pulse.  Although you took Miles Sanders in round 1 he’s been dead to you the past month.  He has one game over 12 points in a HALF PPR since week 6.  That sucks, to put it mildly.  What if you took CEH in round 1?  Surely that’s a pick that couldn’t miss right?  Well, his four rushing touchdowns on the season aren’t exactly setting the world on fire.  He’s scored over 11 half-point PPR points once since week seven.  Yikes.  Good luck this week, I’d love to give you “expert advice” buts it’s 2020.  Light a candle and say a prayer.

You’ve asked for a DFS show from the Hustle and you’re going to get it!  This Friday you are going to hear Ryan Reynolds and Cody Main from Establish The Run join Dwain McFarland and me for an hour of DFS talk different than anything you hear currently.  There are two thoughts when it comes to starting a new venture.  You can be better or be different.  Our goal is to be both.  See you on Friday.

I’m so excited to launch a T-shirt line for the Fantasy Football Hustle.  I hope you would help support the cause by snagging a shirt for the holidays.  Trust me even more designs are coming.  We’re going to dominate the creative shirt space in fantasy football.  Check out our shirt store: https://veridianglobal.com/collections/fantasy-hustle

Jalen Hurts is taking over as the Eagles QB this week.  You all know me as a Philly homer.  I’m not handcuffed to a certain coach or player though.  I want to WIN.  I noted after the draft that I didn’t think Hurts was a smart pick.  To me, they handed Carson Wentz a QB controversy instead of another weapon.  But as a fan, I want to see the team do better from here on out.  If Hurts is the man, so be it.  Let’s not forget the $59 million in dead cap Wentz holds over the Eagles head if they were to move him this offseason.  I don’t think he’s going anywhere.  But hey, who knows what they can pull in the trade market?  I want a top 5 pick.  Lose out, I’m fine with that.  I want to build a winner for years to come.  2020 is a bust.  I want other Birds fans to see the forest through the trees.  Wentz is a hell of a QB.  Don’t give up on him just yet.
