Matchups

James McCann is 8/24 with 2 doubles, 4 home runs and 10 RBI vs Jose Berrios.  A favorable matchup plus he’s home where he’s slashed .343/.368/.543 (.911 OPS).

Joc Pederson is 3/7 with 1 double and 2 home runs with 3 RBI vs Dinelson Lamet.  He is doing what he always does, XBH or bust and only against RHP.  This year he’s 1/7 vs LHP and only 18/92 vs RHP but of those 18 hits, 10 of them are of the extra base variety…4 doubles and 6 home runs.  With his favorable history against Lamet, it’s a solid bet that Joc gets to him.

Manny Machado is 5/15 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI vs Clayton Kershaw.  Machado is having his best season since 2016 and is ranked in the top 10 among the best hitters this year.  Against LHP he’s slugging .600 so this matchup looks to continue to favor Manny.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is 3/5 plus 2 walks vs Clayton Kershaw.  He is the best hitter in baseball to this point in the season.  There isn’t a lot of history, only 7 plate appearances, but considering Tatis has reached base 5 out of those 7 tells me Tatis sees the ball well out of Kershaw’s hand.

Matt Joyce is 3/8 with 1 home run, 2 RBI and 2 walks vs Zack Wheeler.  Joyce has been a solid play vs RHP this year, putting up an OPS of .782.

As a bonus I want to throw in Tony Kemp.  He doesn’t play a lot but he is 4/4 with 1 RBI and 2 walks vs Marco Gonzales.  In fact Kemp only has 3 AB vs LHP all year.  He may be on the bench for this one, but if he plays he could be worth a flier.
