Matchups

Jeff McNeil is 13/23 with 1 double, 1 home run and 3 RBI vs Jake Arrieta.  He’s listed as DTD so watch his status.  He’s been great over the last week hitting .471 with 2 home runs.  He’s hit all 4 of his home runs and carries an OPS of .972 vs RHP this season.  He also hits very well at Citizens Bank Park - .375/.412/.547 slash line over 17 games.

Dominic Smith is 5/10 with 2 doubles, 1 home run, 1 RBI and 2 walks vs Jake Arrieta.  Smith carries an 8 game hitting streak into this matchup.  5 of those games were multi-hit games.  Dom has been a top 50 slugger this season and he gets a nice matchup here.  Vs RHP he’s slashing .354/.396/.688.  .354!!!

Hunter Dozier is 10/17 with 3 doubles, 2 home runs and 5 RBI vs Matthew Boyd.  Dozier comes in hot, 8 hits over his last 9 and A 3/3 game with a homer on Sunday.  Boyd has been serving it up to hitters this year with an ERA of 7.63 and a WHIP of 1.60.

Whit Merrifield is 22/42 with 8 doubles, 1 triple and 8 RBI vs Matthew Boyd.  Merrifield has 6 hits over his last 7 games.  5 of those games were multi-hit games.  At Comerica for his career he has an OPS of 1.017 over 37 games.   This has 4/4 with 2 home runs written all over it…it just depends how long Boyd lasts.

Paul Goldschmidt is 8/15 with 2 home runs, 5 RBI and 3 walks vs Brett Anderson.  For Goldschmidt’s career he has an OPS of 1.021 vs LHP.  That’s strong!  Throw in his OPS at Miller Park, 1.219 and this has all the makings of a great game for Goldy.
