Survivor Pool: Week 14
We are down to four games left in the regular season, which most of us thought might not ever happen due to COVID-19. Pretty incredible if you ask me. If you are still alive after last week, kudos to you because last week had a few landmines that might have taken plenty of survivor players out of commission. The Bears, Seahawks, and Steelers all fell and were all majors upsets that ended survivor players' years abruptly. Let's see if we can be like Gloria Gaynor and say "I Will Survive".
Who to pick for Week 14
Oh, you Vikings you, why did you have to make me sweat out another win. The Vikings needed a field goal towards the end of the game to get the victory and let me survive for another day. Whoa! It seems every week it gets dicey to pick up those wins but here we are! These are the teams that I have previously selected and that are no longer options for me: the Bills, Packers, Colts, Rams, Cowboys, Dolphins, Chargers, Eagles, Chiefs, Saints, Steelers, Browns, and Vikings. Let's check out this week's schedule to see what are possible options for us in Week 14.
NFL Week 14 Schedule
- New England Patriots at Los Angeles Ram (-6)
- Houston Texans at Chicago Bears (+1.5)
- Dallas Cowboys at Cincinnati Bengals (+4)
- Kansas City Chiefs at Miami Dolphins (+7.5)
- Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants (+2.5)
- Minnesota Vikings at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6.5)
- Denver Broncos at Carolina Panthers (-4)
- Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars (+7)
- Indianapolis Colts at Las Vegas Raiders (+3)
- New York Jets at Seattle Seahawks (-13.5)
- Green Bay Packers at Detriot Lions (+8.5)
- New Orleans Saints at Philadelphia Eagles (+7)
- Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Chargers (+2.5)
- Washington Football Team at San Francisco 49ers (-4.5)
- Pittsburg Steelers at Buffalo Bills (+1.5)
- Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns (+1)
After evaluating this week's slate there are five teams that have favorable match-ups by at least (-7) and that could be options for us this week. The teams are as follows; the Chiefs on the road favored by (-7.5) over the Dolphins, the Titans on the road favored by (-7) over the Jaguars, the Seahawks at home favored by (-13.5) over the Jets, the Packers on the road favored by (-8.5) over the Lions, and Saints on the road favored by the (-7) over the Eagles.
The first game to go over is the reigning defending champion, Chiefs heading to south beach to faceoff against the Dolphins. Although the Chiefs on paper are the far superior team than the Dolphins, this game has a feeling that it may be a closer contest than what others think. The Dolphins' defense is very underrated and could give the Chiefs fits on Sunday. The Chiefs are a good option but there may be a safer pick to use.
After losing a heartbreaker to the Browns last week, the Titans are coming into the game with a great chance to get back in the win column. When these teams met earlier this year in Nashville the Titans pulled off a 33-30 victory and started the Jaguars' current 11-game losing streak. Mike Glennon has the Jaguars playing better and this game will be tighter than what the oddsmakers think. You can pick the Titans at your own risk, but I would shy away from this game if you can.
One of the highest favored games of the season has to be this week's contest between the Seahawks and Jets. The Seahawks will be looking for blood after shockingly falling to the Giants at home last week. Russell Wilson hasn't been his MR. Unlimited self recently as he has underperformed in three of his last four games, but this week he will get the offense rolling again. The Jets almost pulled off the upset last week against the Raiders, as it took a last-second hail mary from Derek Carr to give the Jets their 12th "L" for the season. The Seahawks are an excellent pick for this week.
The next game to go over is the Packers visiting the Lions. Earlier in the season the Packers thrashed the Lions 42-21 and have won four of their last five and are sitting at 9-3 for the season. The Lions pulled off on upset last week versus the Bears and now are hosting their divisional rival Packers. Even though the line is currently at (-8) in favor of the Packers, the Lions could make this one interesting, and has the potential to be a shootout. Packers are a good option here if you still have them available.
Lastly, we have the Saints traveling to Philly to battle the Eagles. The Saints are on fire having won nine in a row. They haven't missed a beat with Taysom Hill behind center and look to keep the streak going. The Eagles on the other hand have pulled the plug on Carson Wentz and are starting Jalen Hurts for the first time this season. Hurts has been implemented in the lineup for the last few weeks and has seen his usage steadily rise. Last week, Hurts sparked the Eagles offense after Wentz got sent to hit the pine mid-game and threw for 109 yards and a touchdown. The Saints' defense has been exceptional over the last five games by not allowing a team to score more than 16 points in that span. The Saints should keep marching on to victory, though it may be a little closer than what the line suggests.
Out of the couple of options I have for this week, I will be going with the Seahawks for Week 14.
