Two Start Pitchers for Week 11 (6/10/19 - 6/16/19)
We've got a laundry list of two-start pitchers coming up this week for June 10th through June 16th, and here at Fighting Chance, we're going to sort through them so you don't have to! I've separated them into many different tiers. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you to start Chris Sale or Hyun-Jin Ryu, but I did add some tidbits on those down the line if you're looking to differentiate between the options to add to your roster for the coming week. As always, please follow me on Twitter @ktompkinsii for any questions pertaining to lineups, roster decisions, or anything in between!
Please also remember that all pitching matchups are tentative and can be moved at any point by their corresponding team.
So without further adieu...
STUDS
Chris Sale, BOS (TEX, @BAL)
Charlie Morton, TB (OAK, LAA)
Hyun-Jin Ryu, LAD (@LAA, CHC)
Mike Minor, TEX (@BOS, @CIN)
Trevor Bauer, CLE (CIN, @DET)
James Paxton, NYY (NYM, @CHW)
SOLID
German Marquez, COL (CHC, SD)
Lance Lynn, TEX (@BOS, @CIN)
Martin Perez, MIN (SEA, KC)
Well... this is quite a barren week for two start pitchers. German Marquez has TWO starts at Coors Field, but points leaguers should at least return average value from Marquez' starts... Lance Lynn has been pretty usable this season, all things considered, the most important being that it's... well Lance Lynn. Lynn has scattered some hits, but most importantly, the strikeouts are there in spades and have been a bankable asset for him. I'm confident in Lynn returning value this week, especially compared to the other options this week. As far as Martin Perez goes, I'm okay with starting him with the matchups (SEA/KC) as well as the backing offense behind him but amongst his brethren two starters, he's a good options. The waning number of strikeouts and the clunker at Tampa concerns me, but should provide good value this week.
BORDERLINE
Chris Paddack, SD (@SF, @COL)
Jose Quintana, CHC (@COL, @LAD)
Griffin Canning, LAA (LAD, @TB)
Mike Foltynewicz, ATL (PIT, PHI)
Chris Archer, PIT (@ATL, @MIA)
Yu Darvish, CHC (@COL, @LAD)
Joe Musgrove, PIT (@ATL, @MIA)
Dakota Hudson, STL (@MIA, @NYM)
John Means, BAL (TOR, BOS)
All of these options are really tough to trust this week for one reason or another. For Jose Quintana? Two tough matchups in Colorado and on the road against the Dodgers... How can anybody trust Yu Darvish right now with his control issues? I know I don't, and I have him on my roster still... Chris Archer is usable even with two road starts, but temper expectations, especially on the control front... Griffin Canning has been pretty solid this season but faces the two toughest matchups he's faced in his young career, both back to back vs. the Dodgers and at Tampa Bay... Mike Foltynewicz is Jekyll/Hyde, so predicting a quality start out of Foltynewicz is anybody's guess... Chris Paddack has been quality but his weekend start is at Coors Canaveral so he could be solid for points leaguers this week, especially with a nice start at Oracle Park.
