Waiver Wire Week 13

Whether you are looking for a replacement for an injured player, have underperforming stars, or trying to find a bye-week filler, Fighting Chance Fantasy has you covered for your Week 13 waiver wire needs. This week the Ravens, Bills, Bears, Raiders, Vikings, and Giants are on bye. Hopefully, you can find some answers here to get you back in the win column.

Here at Fighting Chance Fantasy, we will have a collective effort to bring some options to improve your team. Seth Quinn (@SethFQuinn) will cover quarterbacks, Michael Chasco (@ChascoFCF) will cover running backs, Matt Miles (@DirtyAirFC) will cover wide receivers, and Leo Grandio (@smooth1074) will cover the tight ends and defense streamers.

Quarterbacks (Seth Quinn)

Russell Wilson | Denver Broncos

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 53%

I listed Russell Wilson here last week, and while a 16-point outing won’t wow fantasy owners, it was against the elite Browns' defense. Also, Wilson’s appeal is more about his schedule for the rest of the season. The toughest defense the Broncos will face the rest of the season is the Patriots, one of the worst teams in the league. Houston, Detroit, and Chargers twice are all plus matchups. Wilson always played better as the season went on during his time with the Seahawks, and it seems like that won’t be any different this season.

Jordan Love | Green Bay Packers

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 46%

Jordan Love has had a bit of an up-and-down season so far, but against the Lions on Thanksgiving, he had a great game, putting up 26 fantasy points. Week 13 against the Chiefs is a tough matchup, but the Giants in Week 14 is a great matchup and his playoff matchups aren’t too bad. If Green Bay’s offense can get healthy, and the young receivers can continue to improve, Love can have a strong finish to the season.

Matthew Stafford | Los Angeles Rams

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 43%

Matthew Stafford had a fantastic week against Arizona, putting up 23 fantasy points. His schedule is tough the next few weeks, facing Cleveland in Week 13 and Baltimore in Week 14, but if you want a guy with great playoff matchups, Stafford is that guy. In Week 15, he faces the Commanders, one of the worst defenses in the NFL, in Week 16 he faces the Saints, a solid defense, and in Week 17, he faces the Giants, also one of the worst defenses in the NFL. With the rest of the offense getting healthy, Stafford is potentially a great option down the stretch, especially in Weeks 15 and 17.

Running Backs (Michael Chasco)

Zach Moss | Colts

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 49%

Early Tuesday morning NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported Jonathan Taylor was being evaluated for a thumb injury he suffered last Sunday. The unspecified injury could range from a sprain to a fracture and could keep Taylor out for at least Week 13. With the news, Zach Moss instantly vaults up the priority list when waivers run this week. If Taylor were to miss significant time, Moss would be worth nearly all of your remaining FAAB this close to the fantasy playoffs.

With Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, fantasy managers have Moss to be thankful for if they were still in contention for a title. During the first couple of months of the season, Moss carried fantasy lineups while filling in for Taylor, who was recovering from newcontractitis. Taylor eventually signed his new deal with the Colts and was being eased back into the gameplan at Moss' expense. Moss recorded just eight total carries and zero targets after Indianapolis' Week 11 bye, but last Sunday, Moss rebounded nicely with 55 yards on eight carries against Tampa Bay. Pay attention to updates on Taylor, Moss should be rostered everywhere just in case.

- Editors note: Jonathan Taylor was determined that he will have thumb surgery and possibly be out for two to three weeks.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 17%

Moss was a prime example as to why fantasy managers should be loading up their rosters with high-value handcuffs before the fantasy playoffs. Even if the player isn't used this week, it should be a priority to stash away backup options on good running teams. There is no better team than Kyle Shanahan's running scheme in San Francisco. If something were to happen to Christian McCaffrey, Mitchell would become a top-15 option as a leadback in a likely timeshare.

Tyjae Spears | Titans

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 38%

Tyjae Spears has appeared in this section multiple weeks and only once has the rookie running back eclipsed the 50% ownership mark in Yahoo! leagues. Spears has flashed major upside this season and approached standalone value with his role in the Titans offense. He would become an RB2-plus if Derrick Henry were to miss time due to injury. Spears showed some toughness after returning from a heavy hit last Sunday.

Roschon Johnson | Bears

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 23%

Chicago seemed to give Roschon Johnson an increased role on Monday night as he out-touched Khalil Herbert 15 to 8. The rookie running back had career highs in rushing attempts and receiving yards in a road win against Minnesota. The Bears are heading into their Week 13 bye, and it'll be interesting to see how Chicago's backfield will look going forward. Beware, the Bears could incorporate D'Onta Foreman back into its lineup after missing last week with an ankle injury.

D'Ernest Johnson | Jaguars

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 1%

D'Ernest Johnson has overtaken the No. 2 backup job behind starter Travis Etienne and is worth consideration for a roster spot in deeper leagues. Many fantasy managers believed Tank Bigsby would have been the primary option in Jacksonville, however, he has experienced a reduced role at this point of the regular season. Johnson could reach RB2 levels of production if Etienne were to miss time for any reason. At 1% ownership, he should be widely available if you were to miss out on your initial waiver options.

Wide Receivers (Matt Miles)

Check to see if you can add these wide receivers first: Jackson Smith-Njigba 61% Rostered, Brandin Cooks 57% Rostered, and Josh Downs 58% Rostered.

Curtis Samuel | Washington Commanders

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 28%

Curtis Samuel is BACK, BABY! Samuel has re-emerged as Sam Howell's security blanket, with nine catches for 100 yards and an almost touchdown against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. When we hit this point of the season, we want to see usage, and Samuel is delivering, whether at Fed-Ex field or away, and when healthy, he's nearly matchup-proof. Grab Samuel and profit in your flex slot.

Jayden Reed | Green Bay Packers

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 48%

This is likely your last call for Jayden Reed. Although the first nine weeks have been a bit of a ride for the rookie out of Michigan State, Reed seems to be clicking with Jordan Love again as they did in the preseason. Though it wasn't as pretty this week, Reed did find the end zone for the third straight week. Reed is a solid WR3 add this week.

Tight Ends (Leo Grandio)

Waiver wire Check to see if you can add these tight ends first: Logan Thomas 64% Rostered and Isaiah Likely 52% Rostered.

Pat Freiermuth | Pittsburgh Steelers

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 48%

Well, all it took to get Pat Freiermuth involved more in the offense was to change offensive coordinators. Boy did the Steelers' offense look better after the change as the offense as a whole produced over 400 yards for the first time this season. Freiermuth led the way with nine receptions for 120 yards on 11 targets. If Freiermuth is still available in your waiver wire pull the trigger now since he should be rostered in all league formats going forward.

Tucker Kraft | Green Bay Packers

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 1%

With Luke Musgrave on IR, the door was opened for the Packers' other rookie tight end to shine. Tucker Kraft who is currently 1% rostered was able to bring in both of his targets with one going for a touchdown. Jordan Love has been heating up and spreading the ball around to all his weapons. Kraft may be down in the totem poll for targets but if you are desperate at tight end in a tight end premium league consider adding Kraft to help you get through the bye.

Gerald Everett | Los Angeles Chargers

Yahoo! Rostered Ownership: 21%

Well, well, well, look at what we have here, we have a Gerald Everett sighting. After being nicked up with a nagging chest for the last month, Everett brought in all four of his targets for 43 yards and a touchdown. He does have a touch match-up this week against the. Patriots, but with plenty of teams on a bye you may have to go after Everett in deeper league formats.

Tyler Higbee | Los Angeles Rams

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 39%

Another tight end that has not produced much this season has been Tyler Higbee. Higbee has not scored double-digit fantasy points since Week 4. With Cooper Kupp hobbled Higbee got some extra attention in the Red Zone and he came up big with two touchdowns. It’s tough to trust Higbee since he is hit and miss most of the time but with six teams on bye you may want to consider adding Higbee in 12-team leagues.

Juwan Johnson | New Orleans Saints

Yahoo! Roster Ownership: 9%

I just wanted to throw out Juwan Johnson for fantasy managers in really deep formats. With Michael Thomas is out, Chris Olave is in concussion protocol, and Rashid Shaheed is also dealing with an injury making Johnson a possible wild card to get extra targets this week in a decent match-up.

Defense (Leo Grandio)

Tampa Bay Buccaneer Defense 30% Rostered tangle with the Panthers who allow the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses.
Los Angeles Rams Defense 7% Rostered goes up against the Browns that could turn to their third or fourth-string quarterback with Dorian Thompson-Robinson in the concussion protocol.
Atlanta Falcons Defense 10% Rostered face the Jets who allow the second-most fantasy points to opposing defenses.
