Week 9 Waiver Adds

Week 9 Waiver Adds

QB – mostly checking to see who is available, and start looking towards playoffs.

Sam Darnold, NYJ – Confidence 8-9

Look at his schedule

Gardner Minshew, JAX - Confidence 8-9

No idea if he is owned in your league, but he a top 12 quarterback. Great spot start for this week against the Houston Texans who lost JJ Watt this past weekend.

Jimmy Garoppolo, SF – Confidence 6-8

I fully expect the 49ers to get Jimmy going as the season goes on. Kyle Shanahan is smart enough to know having different schemes on tape makes a big difference in the playoffs. Against the Arizona Cardinals seems like a great time to get Emmanuel Sanders going as their true WR1.

Playoffs –

I’m not going in depth on playoffs this week, but please if you’re streaming, you need to be looking at playoff matchups.

Jaylen Samuels, PIT – Confidence 6-10

If he is the starter, I am going full RB1/2. If Conner is active then I like him as a Flex1-2. He’s kind of a poor man’s Jamaal Williams when Conner is active. But, given Conner’s repeated injuries each week, I love Jaylen as a high end handcuff with flex appeal.

Jamaal Williams, GB – Confidence 7-8

Jamaal can’t seem to be stopped. He is worthy of flexing even if you’re starting Aaron Jones. In fact, I may be doing this in one league.

Mark Walton, MIA – Confidence 5-6

Kenyan, who? With Kenyan traded this is Mark’s backfield. He might not crack you’re starting  line up, but he is getting touches and you could do worse in a pinch.

Kallen Ballage, MIA – Confidence 2-3

Did you miss out on Mark Walton? Maybe take a deep flyer on Ballage and see if his role increases. Ultimately, I don’t care about the RB2 on a terrible team, but he is getting some goal line carries so… Hopefully this breakdown isn’t helpful and you are laughing wondering who would be picking up Ballage.

Tra Carson, DET – Confidence 2-4

He started the came… And that’s the extent of why Tra is worth picking up. This is a complete RBBC, and I have no idea what to do with that… He is worth a pick up just to see, but that’s the most glowing thing I can say. Maybe Patricia will focus on one back more than the other.

Second week in a row for High-end Handcuffs (in order):  Alexander Mattison, Tony Pollard, Gus Edwards, Samuels/Benny Snell

Danny Amendola, DET – Confidence 6-8

In a PPR league, Amendola seems to be a go to for Matthew Stafford who is crushing it this season. With Kenny G and Marvin Jones surrounding him, Danny seems to be getting light coverage and easy catches and yards. I am firing him up this week against Oakland.  Also, without Kerryon, maybe some of the dump offs are leading towards Amendola.

Chris Conley, JAX – Confidence 4-5

I am not a believer in chasing fluky plays, as you should not be either. Conley had this 70 yard TD on a broken weird play. So moving on from that let’s focus on Dede Westbrook potentially being out of the game. This game against the Texans should be high scoring and need Conley to be involved.

Darius Slayton, NYG – Confidence 4-6

He seems to have a great connection with Daniel Jones. This may not last beyond the return of Sterling Shepard, but who knows when that will be. Shameless plug: Slayton was my sleeper was week on our Week 8 Roundtable, so he holds a special place in my short term memory. But, as a rookie he room to grow with an arrow that is pointing up long term.

Preston Williams, MIA, - Confidence 5

Fitzpatrick looks for Preston often, and Preston has shown pretty well for being… a Dolphin. But alas it is week 9 and we are maybe in need of a deep dive at wide receiver with injuries and bye weeks. He is better than Kalen Ballage, but I hope you aren’t starting Preston anytime soon.

Allen Lazard, GB – Confidence 4-6

Lazard is getting the snaps and getting targets. But he feels like his time will come to an end when Davante Adams returns as early as this week. Lazard is the type of WR that the Packers need to get involved given his 6’5” stature, but so far it hasn’t happened as much lately as one would hope.

Jonnu Smith, TEN – Confidence 6-8

Quietly Jonnu has been a top 5 tight end over the past three weeks. I don’t know why that would stop as Ryan Tannehill likes to throw to him. Remember how well Corey Davis and AJ Brown did this week? No, you don’t? That’s because they did nothing while Jonnu put up 6-78-1. Let the good times keep rolling.

Chris Herndon, NYJ – Confidence 5-8

Maybe he will play, and maybe we will get to feel vindicated that we have been pumping him up for several weeks. But alas, I think we need to wait one more week. However, he should be rostered if you have the space. Don’t be late to the Herndon party when it finally starts.

Dallas Goedert, PHI – Confidence 5-9

Dallas is looking like the TE1 in Philadelphia, even though we all keep thinking that Ertz will reappear soon enough. Until Ertz appears, Goedert is worth a tight end stream and should probably be seen as a top twelve tight end.
