Wise Power 400 Cup Picks for DFS and Fantasy

Good morning, race fans!  It's time for the WisePower 400. Practice and qualifying were full of surprises this weekend.  Kurt Busch's car could not pass initial tech inspection 3 times, and was not allowed to qualify on speed AND will serve a pass-through penalty to start the race. Several drivers are going to back-up cars from crashes in the practice session, including Bubba Wallace, Kevin Harvick, Ross Chastain, Justin Haley as well as qualifying incidents for Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, and possibly Kyle Busch.

I think we're going to see a lot of single-car crashes and tire wear issues.  Drivers that can manage tire wear and save enough for the final 25 or so laps will be best bets.  Start your engines!

NASCAR DFS

I'll be playing in Draft Kings once again this week. If you're new to the NASCAR DFS world, here's a quick summary of how scoring is done:

Look for a mix of drivers that fit the following:

Start upfront and can potentially lead a lot of laps.

Good Drivers starting farther back that can pass a lot of cars and finish with a strong differential.

Drivers starting up front I like:
Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott Kyle Busch (if he doesn't get moved to the rear at the start)

Drivers with a great differential potential and could lead laps:
William Byron, Tyler Reddick, Alex Bowman

Drivers with great differential points, and possible top finishes:
Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, Aric Almirola

Most likely to be chalk plays:
Kyle Larson, Kurt Busch

My Picks for the week after watching practice and qualifying:

WisePower 400 Winner  Denny Hamlin
Best Bet for a solid finish Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, William Byron, Kyle Larson
Dark Horse Differentiators Daniel Hemric, Tyler Reddick, Erik Jones, Cole Custer
Chalk Plays Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson

NASCAR.com Fantasy Live

The revamped Fantasy Live game run by NASCAR.com is a free game to win prizes and test your skills at picking drivers with limited starts. Each driver has 10 allocations, a garage slot you can swap with mid-race, and now the ability to choose drivers in head-to-head matchups for bonus points!

It's a great week to save some starts on top drivers. With Jones, Hemric, and Reddick all showing well, I have them in with William Byron in the garage as a swap candidate. Here's who I have in my NASCAR Fantasy Live Pool this week:

Driver Group Game:

In this format, I'm starting a mix of drivers I think will finish well. Here's who I have for the week:

One-and-Done Games:

If you are in any one-and-done pools, I'm going with Daniel Hemric.  Reddick is also a good choice, but I like using Reddick at Homestead later in the spring.  Erik Jones would be a good choice as well.
