Loserball Picks: Week 4
I have taken a few weeks off, but it is time to get back to Loserball and my picks for Week 4. This game has been incredibly fun so far as it takes a week of NFL football in a different way. You aren’t rooting for touchdowns for your teams, you are hoping for a penalty to kill a drive and then a missed field goal to really make you happy! Let your team give up lots of points, get called for several penalties, and your defense give up a 300-yard passer. Who are the best teams for Week 4? Here are some of my picks!
New York Giants (Handicap: 111)
Sure, last week Daniel Jones was reasonably good but for some reason he has always performed well against the Commanders. The first two games Jones barely completed 50 percent of his passes which is great for Loserball. New York has been called for 22 penalties in three weeks. Not only that but the Giants are on their second kicker which could lead to a missed field goal. They are down two cornerbacks this week which could lead to not only points scored, but also there are points (well, negative points) for allowing a 300-yard passer and while Dak Prescott hasn’t started well, he should get well on Thursday. There are so many ways that the Giants could be Loserball gold that even with the high handicap they should perform quite well.
Miami Dolphins (Handicap: 82)
I actually like Snoop Huntley better than Skylar Thompson at quarterback for the Fish this week, but either way it isn’t going to be good. Dude was on the Ravens practice squad just a few days ago. Miami has some great weapons for him to use, but I feel like a solid number of incompletions and a turnover or two are very realistic expectations for Huntley. Perhaps a -200 pick six is in the cards? I also wouldn’t be surprised if the offensive line is called for a penalty or three with a different quarterback under center. Jason Sanders has already missed two field goals this season and Miami is the fourth most penalized team so far to help out your Loserball squad as well. The Titans aren’t exactly an offensive powerhouse to put up 300 yards passing or 150 yards rushing but Will Levis has shown flashes in his career.
Los Angeles Chargers (Handicap: 47)
Let’s face it, Justin Herbert’s ankle is a mess. He wasn’t able to finish last week’s game, and although Taylor Heinicke is a decent backup, who knows what we will get from the quarterback position this week. The team has allowed seven sacks and had 17 penalties called against them in three games. They are facing the Chiefs this week which stands a high likelihood of putting up 30 points, Patrick Mahomes will likely have 25+ completions and he could easily throw for 300 yards which is worth a solid -135. The only area that the Chargers are not great for Loserball is the special teams, where Dicker the Kicker hasn’t missed yet. But with uncertainty on offense and going against one of the better scoring teams in the league and having a reasonably low handicap makes me like the Chargers a bunch for Week 4.
