Player Props: Week 8
I regressed a bit last week only hitting on three of my five suggestions after hitting on four of five picks in Week 6. That brings my season long record to 24 wins and 18 losses. Not terrible but I’m hoping to improve on my 57% winning percentage. I’ve got five more player prop bets that I like this week and I’m willing to share them with you.
Please remember that gambling is super risky and you should only use funds that you can afford to lose.
Cedric Tillman, WR, Cleveland Browns
Over 38.5 receiving yards
Jameis Winston will be the Browns’ starting QB for the rest of the season and that means better days are ahead for the team’s WRs from a fantasy production standpoint. Winston didn’t get his first pass completion until the fourth quarter last week and he ended up completing five overall. One of those completions went to Tillman for 25 yards and Winston had Tillman in his sights and targeted him deep over the middle on an incompletion as well. Winston also connected with Tillman for a two-point conversion. Tillman led Browns WRs with 12 targets last week and he should be heavily targeted again in Week 8. With the Baltimore Ravens having given up the second most yards to WR this season, and Tillman being heavily involved in the Browns’ passing attack, he’ll more than likely hit the over on this passing prop.
David Njoku, TE, Cleveland Browns
Over 5.5 receptions
Tillman may have led Browns WRs in targets but it was Njoku who led all Browns pass catchers with 14 targets in Week 7. Njoku should also be heavily targeted in Week 8 against a Ravens defense that has given up the most receptions to TEs (45) this season. The Browns passing offense has been liberated from the confines of Deshaun Watson’s ineptitude and both Njoku and Tillman will benefit as a result.
Jalen McMillan, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Over 3.5 receptions
Call me “Captain Obvious” but a Jalen McMillan breakout game should be on the horizon. With Mike Evans (hamstring) expected to miss multiple weeks and Chris Godwin suffering a season ending injury, QB Baker Mayfield will have to rely on McMillan, Sterling Shepard, Trey Palmer and Cade Otton in Week 8. He was targeted eight times last week and I like McMillan’s chances of hitting the over on this prop against a Falcons team that has given up the seventh most receptions to WRs this season. Otton had a breakout game in Week 7 and I thought about recommending his receptions prop, but the Falcons have been tough on TEs. We should all be watching this game very carefully to see if the targets keep on finding McMillan and Otton.
Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins
Over 5.5 receptions
Hill is obviously thrilled to have QB Tua Tagovailoa and he encouraged fantasy football managers to put him in their lineups. That’s good enough for me. Hill had seven receptions the last time Tagovailoa played a full game in Week 1 and he has a good chance to hit the over on this receptions prop against the Cardinals, who have given up the eighth most receptions to WRs this season.
Kareem Hunt, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
Over 67.5 yards rushing
Hunt has rushed for at least 69 yards in each of his three games this season. With the Las Vegas Raiders giving up an average of just over 107 rushing yards to RBs so far this season he’s got a good chance to do it again in Week 8. The Kansas City Chiefs are running the ball a lot more this season. In 2023 they ran the ball 39.66% of the time and this season that percentage has jumped to 48.84%. If that trend continues, and it should against the Raiders, Hunt should hit the over on this rushing prop.
