Player Props: Week 9

I had another three wins in Week 8 which brings my season long record to 27 wins and 20 losses. Not terrible, but I’m hoping to improve on my 57% winning percentage. I’ve got five more player prop bets that I like this week that I’m willing to share with you.

Please remember that gambling is super risky and you should only use funds that you can afford to lose.

Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Over 65.5 receiving yards

Downs has been QB Joe Flacco’s favorite receiver this season. With Flacco under center in Weeks 4, 5 and 6, Downs averaged 10 targets, eight catches and just over 72 yards receiving per game. Downs has a good matchup against a Minnesota Vikings pass defense that has given up the fourth most receptions to WRs over the last five weeks.

Derrick Henry, RB, Baltimore Ravens

Under 3.5 receptions

Henry has been the NFL’s best RB by far this season. He leads all RBs with 946 rushing yards and nine rushing TDs and if you play fantasy football he has the highest per game average of PPR fantasy points scored. However, almost all of his damage has been done on the ground. Henry only has eight catches this season. This receiving prop is artificially high because his opponent, the Denver Broncos, have given up the fourth most receptions to RBs (44) this season.

Cade Otton, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Over 4.5 receptions

It’s been hard trying to find an NFL tight end that you can consistently count on in the world of gambling and fantasy football this season. However, with 20 targets and 17 catches in his last two games, Otton has emerged as a reliable option of late, especially when he has a favorable matchup. The Bucs have lost Chris Godwin for the season and Mike Evans (hamstring) is out in Week 9. Jalen McMillan got some extra targets with Godwin and Evans out but he burned me on his prop last week and I’m mad at him. I’m straying away from Bucs WR this week since their opponent, the mighty Kansas City Chiefs, have given up the fourth fewest receptions to the position this season. On the other hand, the Chiefs have given up the second most receptions to the TE position (49) this season and with QB Baker Mayfield consistently looking his way, Otton should have another big game in Week 9.

D’Andre Swift, RB, Chicago Bears

Over 67.5 yards rushing

I guess Vegas is paying attention to that other person with the last name Swift because this rushing prop is too low. Swift (D’Andre that is) is averaging 96.5 rushing yards per game over his last four contests. He’ll be running against the Arizona Cardinals, who are giving up 5.14 YPC to RBs over the past five weeks and the sixth most rushing yards to the position during that span.

Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs

Over 61.5 receiving yards

With JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring) out again this week the Chiefs are going to have to rely on Kelce to be his old vintage self in Week 9. He’s got a great matchup against the Bucs who have given up the most receiving yards to TEs over the past five weeks (458). They’re also tied with five other teams for having given up the most TDs to the position (4) during that span.
