Player Props: Week 5

I was successful on three of my five suggestions last week bringing my season long record to a very modest 15-12. Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris was my worst pick. He only rushed for 19 yards when he was supposed to rush for at least 65. He’s got another good matchup this week. Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson are both out in Week 5, but Harris needs to prove himself to me before I’d take the over on his Week 5 68.5 rushing yards prop. Last week I used the KISS approach. This week I’m going to use the common sense approach. Something has to work, right?

Please remember that gambling is super risky and you should only use funds that you can afford to lose.

Jordan Mason, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Over 86.5 rushing yards

Mason has done a tremendous job filling in for the injured Christian McCaffrey this season, rushing for at least 100 yards in three of his first four games and averaging 4.91 YPC on the season. He’s got a great matchup in Week 5 against an Arizona Cardinals team that is giving up the third most rushing yards (501) to RBs and 4.47 YPC to the position. Mason should continue to roll in Week 5.

Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens

Under 24.5 receiving yards

This pick seems too easy. Andrews has been targeted once in each of his last two games and I actually dropped him in one of my season long leagues. The fact that I dropped him means he’s going to have a big Week 5 but in reality the Bengals have been very stingy to TEs this season, giving up the fifth fewest receptions to the position. Derrick Henry is the focal point of this Ravens offense and for now, Andrews’ job is to create holes for Henry to run through. Take the under on the receiving yards for Andrews and his under 2.5 receptions prop is probably a good bet too.

Geno Smith, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Under 255.5 passing yards

I am a New York Giants fan and I don’t think they have a chance to win their matchup against the Seahawks this week. I see this game as a 31-3 shellacking with the Giants being the “Big Black and Blue” by games end. Overall, the Giants have actually kept opposing QBs in check and with RB Kenneth Walker back in action and Zach Charbonnet backing him up I think the Seahawks jump out to an early lead and then run the ball down the Giants throat in the second half. Smith will have a good day but game script will prevent him from hitting the over on his passing yards prop.

Josh Jacobs, RB, Green Bay Packers

Over 66.5 rushing yards

Jacobs only ran the ball nine times in Week 4 because the Packers were playing from behind for most of the game so he’ll have fresh legs in Week 5. Jacobs should be able to crush his over 66.5 yard rushing prop against a Rams run defense that has given up 4.80 YPC to RBs and the most rushing yards to the position (524) this season.

Amari Cooper, WR, Cleveland Browns

Anytime TD scorer

The Washington Commanders defense against WRs is so bad that I wanted to get at least one Browns receiver prop into this article. Cooper leads Browns receivers in targets and he and QB Deshaun Watson seem to be slowly getting on the same page as the season is progressing. The Commanders have given up the most TDs (10) to the WR position and Cooper scored two TDs in Week 3 against the New York Giants. He also had an 82 yard TD reception called back due to a penalty in Week 4. I see Cooper taking advantage of the Commanders’ bad pass defense, and scoring at least one TD this week.
